Bus Maintenance

With our buses traveling over 1.2 million miles annually conducting stops and starts constantly, maintenance is a priority.

Our staff of four certified technicians performs maintenance of our fleet. Lead Mechanic, Darrell Tate, oversees the maintenance and inspection of 100 buses and four support vehicles. In addition to the engine maintenance, they must ensure proper operation of all safety equipment including lights, brakes, tires, wheelchair lifts, wheelchair tie-downs, safety vests, video cameras, heaters, etc. Over 95% of maintenance is performed by our staff.

To ensure safe operation of all buses in Indiana, the Indiana State Police inspect all buses in operation every year. While we are proud of our exemplary inspection record, we are equally proud of the relationship between our maintenance staff and the State Police. This relationship allows open communication and helps to ensure safe transport of our students on a daily basis.
