IREAD Information for Families

The state of Indiana requires all students to take and pass the IREAD assessment before advancing to the 4th grade. Students take the assessment beginning in 2nd grade. Students who do not pass the IREAD will have further opportunities to take the assessment. Some students qualify for a good cause exemption.
