When is Aylesworth Elementary School closing?

Why is Aylesworth Elementary School closing?

Current and predicted enrollment trends for our school district indicate that we can effectively run 7 elementary schools instead of the current 8. Additionally, Willowcreek Middle School is in need of major repairs. Following extensive architectural studies, it was determined that building a new school would be more cost-effective long-term. The new building will be constructed on the properties of the current Aylesworth Elementary School and Willowcreek Middle School.

Will students attending other elementary schools be affected?

How will I know if my child is affected by the new boundary lines next school year?

Can I submit a request to remain at my home school? (intra-district transfers)

Will all PTS elementary schools serve students in grades K-4 next year?

Which school will grades 5 and 6 students attend?

Which school will grades 7 and 8 students attend?

How will PTS help incoming 5th grade students and families transition to their new school?

Will there be opportunities for incoming 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students to learn about their new schools?

Will school start times next year change?

Will 5th grade students have the opportunity to participate in clubs and sports at the intermediate school?

Will 6th grade students have the opportunity to participate in clubs and sports at the intermediate school?

What opportunities within the music department will be available to the 5th and 6th grade students at the intermediate school?

Students in 5th grade will continue to take a general music class, similar to the music class they currently take at the elementary level. We do plan to incorporate additional opportunities to explore musical instruments available to them in 6th grade.

Student in 6th grade will continue to have the opportunity to take band, choir, or orchestra and begin their path to learning those instruments.

Will intermediate school students have recess?
