Portage Township Schools is proud to announce our new open enrollment opportunity for the 2026-2027 school year.
 
Expanding Educational Opportunities
 Portage Township Schools allows children who live outside the Portage Township area to enroll in kindergarten and first grade. This is an exciting chance to offer more educational opportunities to families in nearby communities.
 
Eligibility Requirements
Families who want to take part in this opportunity need to meet these requirements:
  • Age: Kindergarten students must be 5 years old by August 1, 2026. First graders must be 6 years old or have finished an accredited kindergarten program.
  • Student Expectations: Students should show they are committed to coming to school regularly, doing their best in class, and following behavior rules.
  • Transportation: Families must provide transportation to and from school every day.
 
Important Note:
Open enrollment is only available right now for students starting kindergarten and first grade in the 2026-2027 school year. Students who enrolled last year may continue to attend in their next grade level. Students enrolling for the first time in higher grades cannot apply at this time.
