Portage Township Schools is proud to announce our new open enrollment opportunity for the 2025-2026 school year.
 
Expanding Educational Opportunities
Beginning with the 2025-2026 school year, Portage Township Schools will implement an open enrollment policy for kindergarten and first-grade students living outside of the Portage Township boundary lines. This marks an important expansion of educational opportunities for families in surrounding communities.
 
Eligibility Requirements
Families interested in this opportunity must meet the following criteria:
  • Age requirements: Incoming kindergarten students must turn 5 years old on or before August 1, 2025. Students entering first grade must be 6 years old or have completed an accredited kindergarten program.
  • Student expectations: Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to school attendance, academics, and meeting behavior expectations.
  • Transportation: Families must provide transportation to and from school each day.
 
Important Note: Open enrollment is currently available only for students entering kindergarten and first grade for the 2025-2026 school year. Students in older grades are not eligible to apply at this time.
