School status update

Portage Township Schools staff is working to begin the 2026-2027 school year as soon as safely as possible. The safety of our students, staff, and families comes first, so we will begin the school year as soon as road and sidewalk conditions are safe, our buildings have been assessed for damage and are repaired to a safe extent, power has been restored to our schools, and we are able to obtain food to feed our students breakfast and lunch. We are continuing to collaborate with city and township officials to ensure conditions are safe for a return to school.

Updates on the status of school can be found below.

SCHOOL STATUS
Our current goal is to return to school on Wednesday, August 19, providing conditions are safe to do so. We will continue to provide updates to families on the status of school.

SCHOOL & BUILDING POWER STATUS
The purpose of this dashboard is to provide you with an update on power at each school. In order to safely return to school, we need to ensure road and sidewalk conditions are safe, obtain food for breakfast and lunch, and repair any damage to buildings in addition to seeing power restored.
