Portage Township Schools prioritizes the safety and well-being of all students and staff members in our schools and service buildings. Below you will find important procedures that must be followed by all individuals who plan on visiting and/or volunteering for Portage Township Schools. Remember to follow these steps when visiting:
- Enter through the main entrance of the building.
- Have your ID ready to present to the building secretary.
- Press the call button and state your name and reason for your visit.
- Wear your visitors badge throughout your visit.
- Check out of the building with the secretary before you leave.
VOLUNTEER BACKGROUND CHECKS
Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Portage Township Schools! Your efforts make it possible for us to continue providing excellent educational experiences for our students. Prior to volunteering, please watch this Volunteer Orientation Video, as it contains important information regarding background checks, health practices, and other important policies.
The purpose of the volunteer background check procedure is to help ensure the safety and security of our students at Portage Township Schools. A complete background check will be required once a year for those individuals who are requesting to volunteer. Background checks must be submitted and approved prior to any volunteer activity taking place in the Portage Township Schools. A criminal record does not necessarily mean that a volunteer will be prevented from serving in the schools.
