Finger painting masterpieces, storytime giggles, and first friendships are just around the corner as Portage Township Schools opens enrollment for its preschool program for the 2026-2027 school year.
Designed to help children build confidence, curiosity, and kindergarten readiness skills, the Preschool at PTS offers a welcoming and engaging learning environment for children of all abilities and learning styles. Located at Jones Elementary School, the program combines hands-on learning with play-based exploration to help young learners thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
“Our preschool program is about creating opportunities for every child to learn, grow, and belong,” PTS Superintendent Dr. Amanda Alaniz said. “We are proud to provide an inclusive environment where students develop foundational skills while building positive relationships and a love for learning.”
The preschool program includes:
- Half-day (AM or PM) and full-day options
- Attending either three or five days a week
- Licensed teachers and dedicated paraprofessionals in every classroom
- A curriculum focused on academic and social readiness for kindergarten
- Development of early reading, math, communication, and social skills
- An integrated program where students of all abilities learn together
Children also benefit from centers-based play, hands-on activities, visual schedules, and individualized support designed to encourage active participation and exploration. For qualifying students, on-site services such as speech therapy and occupational therapy are also available.
The program is open to children ages 3, 4, and 5. Bus transportation and daily meals are available.
