National children’s health organization Alliance for a Healthier Generation unveiled its 2026 list of America’s Healthiest Schools, celebrating over 1,300 K-12 schools nationwide for their commitment to advancing whole child health, including each school within Portage Township Schools. PTS was awarded in the Improving Nutrition & Food Access category.

Portage Township Schools is thrilled to announce that Nora Callaway, a third-grade student at Crisman Elementary, has been named the recipient of the Distinguished Student Award by the Indiana Association for the Gifted.

All Portage Township Schools students will be eligible to receive free breakfast and lunch during the 2025-26 school year.

Portage Township Schools will host Donkey Ball on Wednesday, April 8 at 6:00 p.m. in the Portage High School Main Gymnasium. PTS staff members will face off in a basketball game while riding live donkeys, with proceeds supporting student and staff recognition initiatives across the district.

Our goal is to begin the school year on Tuesday, August 25. We will continue to provide updates to families and staff.

Both full-day and half-day options are available as students learn the academic and social skills needed to excel in kindergarten.
